Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
Instructions
  1. Mix the baking soda and cream of tartar. Use in place of one tablespoon of baking powder.
  2. Mix only as much as you will use right away. If you wish to store it for long term use, add a teaspoon of corn starch, potato starch, or arrowroot powder and seal it in an airtight container prominently labeled “My Amazing Homemade Baking Powder,” ‘cuz who doesn’t need a little pat on the back in the kitchen!
  3. Multiply the quantity of ingredients by how much baking powder you need, keeping in mind that there are three teaspoons in one tablespoon. Hello, math skills! (Cheat: if you need 2 tablespoons of homemade baking powder, that’s 2 teaspoons soda, 4 teaspoons tartar, and 2 teaspoons corn starch if you’re using it.)

Whether you want aluminum-free baking powder, need corn-free baking powder, or simply ran out, this baking powder recipe has got you covered.  Did you ever think learning how to make baking powder could be that simple?

  1. That is amazing! What a good idea!

Though I’ll admit I get a kick out of the jar next to the can of homemade baking powder…the one full of dried greenery labeled “Weed.” 😉

  2. I keep a running list of substitutions taped inside my baking cupboard. I will add this for sure. when I run out of my current baking powder, I think I may try the homemade stuff. (I am working hard at switching things over to a more healthy way for my family–preferably without putting them into shock from the changes!)

    1. That’s a great idea! I only use this recipe when I run out or when someone in the family is avoiding corn, because I found a healthy version in the stores. If I could find an affordable bulk source of cream of tartar, I would make this more often.

  3. Color also plays an important role in determining the designing part
of a HTML Email Template. There are specialized websites, offering voucher codes for UK retailers
and their different products presented. On another level, the
telecommunication industry has began to bank for the unique thought
